The Importance of Alterations

The Importance of Alterations

After spending months finding your dream wedding dress, we completely understand that you may feel antsy to take it home immediately after it first arrives, but we can’t emphasize enough the importance of the alterations process. After all, you did take your time selecting the perfect gown, so don’t you want the fit to be just right, as well? Here’s the scoop on why having alterations done by a professional bridal seamstress are as important as your dress itself:

We often find that some brides assume alterations are an unnecessary expense because it’s difficult to believe that the dress you fell in love with the moment you first tried it on could be improved in any way. At Dantela Bridal Couture, we want every gown we send off to the aisle to fit absolutely flawlessly, and we’ve found that most dresses require at least a little help to get there.

About three months before your wedding date, we’ll have your first fitting appointment. Almost every dress requires a hem and bustle, which your bridal seamstress will handle right away, along with any other major changes you would like to request from the get-go, which can include adding sleeves, embellishments, or neckline adjustments. After these initial fixes, you’ll have a second fitting appointment about 6 weeks out, where your seamstress will take care of any other minor adjustments.

Lastly, 3 weeks before your wedding, you will come in for your final fitting, where you’ll get to address any remaining tweaks and finally see the outcome of all your patience and consistency. Each of these steps is crucial in ensuring your bridal vision becomes reality, and at the end of the alterations process, you will be immensely grateful to have a gown that fits you like a glove and truly makes you shine on your wedding day.
