One of the biggest steps in planning your wedding is finding the dress. It’s the most memorable dress you’ll wear in your life, and you want to find one that reflects your personal style and makes you feel beautiful and confident on your wedding day. The last thing you want is to wait too long to buy your dress and be worried about it as the wedding approaches! To keep things as easy as possible for you, planning wise, we’re sharing the typical timeline you can expect while shopping.
After You Say “Yes”
Once you’ve gotten engaged, it’s time to start planning! There are only two things you need to take care of before shopping for your wedding dress: your venue and date. This way, you’ll have an idea of what your wedding day will look like, from the season to the setting, and you can better envision what you may want.
10-12 Months Before
After the date and venue are set, start shopping! A full 12 months out may sound long, but the process of buying a wedding dress takes time. Once you place your order, your designer will need to construct you dress, which takes several months from start to finish. From sourcing materials to placing embellishments, creating your high-end wedding dress is a time consuming process, meaning you’ll need to shop early.
2 Months Before
Once your dress comes in, you’ll need alterations. These are usually minor, from raising your hemline to taking the dress in slightly. Typically, you’ll have 2-3 fittings over 2 months to get everything just right. This ensures everything is fitting flawlessly on your wedding day, so you have nothing to worry about other than walking down the aisle!
